A new liquid biopsy test is confirmed to be in development, which intends to provide a rapid diagnosis for CUP Patients.

The test will be developed by Associate Professor Richard Tothill from the University of Melbourne Centre for Cancer Research, in partnership with Peter Macs Professor Sarah-Jane Dawson.

To be performed, the liquid biopsy requires only a sample of the patient's blood, which will then enable scientists to analyse the blood-borne fragments of cancer DNA and then compare the results to genetic information known about cancers.

This new test is one of four projects, sharing a total in $6.5 million in funding, announced by The Advanced Genomics Collaboration.
